As I officially become the xOLDx guy I have found it fun to create challenges for myself that help invigorate nostalgia and keep things exciting.
So in 2026 I am forcing myself to dive back into the thousands of 7 inch records I have amassed over my lifetime. These picks are all from my personal collection and are not for sale unless you can beat me in an arm wrestling match.

Morrissey
First of the Gang to Die
This one is essential for me because it is my favorite Morrissey solo song. You Are the Quarry is currently pulling over five hundred dollars so you really need to love that album to justify paying that kind of money.

Another Victim
I came into this band in the late nineties by way of Ebullition Records. Name another hardcore or punk band from Arkansas. I will wait.
They blend punk hardcore and alternative in a way that feels totally natural. This 7 inch came out in 1991 on Sam McPheeters label from Born Against and still holds up.

Foxtrot Uniform Charlie Kilo
Are you tired of another round of strikingly dumb sex innuendos packed into an electro pop punk song? Me neither.
At the time of release this was the only way to get this song on vinyl. These days you can grab the greatest hits or pay serious money for a band exclusive pressing of the full album.
Reel Big Fish and Goldfinger
Teen Beef Tiger Meat Split 7”
This record is the perfect entry point for two elusive yet iconic ska punk classics. Goldfinger Superman of Tony Hawk fame paired with Reel Big Fish cover of Take On Me makes this split an all timer.
The Hope Conspiracy
Self Titled 7”
They call it a self titled release but we are all really here for Divinity Sickness. One of the hardest breakdowns of the early two thousands.
At the time of release this was also the only place you could get the other two tracks.
Against Me
Disco Before the Breakdown
Tonight We’re Gonna Give It 35 Percent is not only one of the best songs they have ever written but it also sits comfortably in my personal top three. An absolutely essential release.
The Presidents of the United States of America
Peaches and Video Killed the Radio Star
This was released on the independent Dry Hump label in 1994 or 1995 before the band broke big. Peaches was officially released as a single in early 1996.
If you were alive then you either loved it or despised it but either way it is permanently burned into your brain.
